It’s only fair to say that, like most Australian Swifties, we went into meltdown mode this morning when we woke up to see the news that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged.

From the moment Kelce confessed on his podcast with brother Jason, that he made a friendship bracelet during The Eras Tour, there’s been a sense that the two were destined to end up here.
Naturally, we’re already dissecting every detail: the engagement ring, wedding day theories, and the significance of the proposal itself. But one element of the proposal that we can’t stop talking about? The dress!
Swift’s choice was a Polo Ralph Lauren silk-blend dress with a shirred bodice and breezy A-line skirt. Unsurprisingly, it sold out within just 20 minutes of the Instagram post announcing the engagement going live, leaving fans (ourselves included!) scrambling to find something similar.

The couple announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post on August 26. The caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married ?”
The love story between Swift and Kelce began in 2023, during the height of The Eras Tour. Kelce admitted to his brother on their podcast that he made a friendship bracelet for Swift with his phone number on it, with the intention of giving it to her himself. Despite not meeting on the night, the couple have gone on to publicly support each other during their respective careers.
Given both Swift and Kelce’s upcoming commitments — Swift with her new album The Life Of A Showgirl and Kelce with his upcoming football season — it’s likely the pair won’t be married until at least 2026. However, Swift is notoriously private, so there could also be a secret elopement or small and intimate wedding in the near future.
