Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are set to marry, nearly nine years after they first met. On 11 August 2025, Rodríguez confirmed the news on Instagram with a photo of her giant oval-cut diamond engagement ring and the caption: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The pair’s relationship began in 2016, when Georgina was working at a Gucci boutique in Madrid and Ronaldo came in as a customer. They kept their romance relatively private in the early months, making their first public appearance together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017.

Since then, they have built a life together across Europe and the Middle East, raising their two daughters, Alana and Bella, alongside Ronaldo’s three other children: Cristiano Jr. and twins Eva and Mateo.
Engagement speculation has followed the couple for years. In her 2022 Netflix documentary I Am Georgina, Ronaldo addressed whether they would soon be engaged, saying: “I always tell her, when we get that click … it could be in a year, in six months or in a month. I’m 1,000 percent sure that it’ll happen”.
In April 2025, Rodríguez also posted an image of a huge diamond ring to Instagram, which was of sitting pretty on her left ring finger, sparking a new wave of rumours. She has worn the ring in countless Instagram photos since, though it is a different ring from the one she announced her engagement with this week.
With the engagement now confirmed, attention will inevitably turn to their wedding plans. Neither has shared details on a date or location, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any updates.
