The photo shows Rodríguez’s hand laying over Ronaldo’s in bed, though you’d be forgiven for not noticing a single detail beyond the, frankly, massive diamond boulder laying over the ring finger on her left hand. She captioned the post simply: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Naturally, with such a dazzling ring on display, experts immediately started speculating on the precise specifications of the ring. One estimated that the central oval diamond is likely upwards of 22 carats, while another guessed the diamond could be between 25 to 30 carats, and carry a price tag of between $2-4 million USD (up to $6 million AUD) based on clarity, cut, and colour. Meanwhile, Page Six Style reports an even broader price range of $2-5 million USD, noting the possibility of a flawless D‑colour centre stone that’s up to 30 carats paired with substantial side diamonds in a platinum setting.
To clear up the confusion, we spoke to two jewellery experts to find out the exact details of the impressive engagement ring Ronaldo used to propose to Rodríguez. Anna Whiting, General Manager of Cushla Whiting, tells ELLE Australia that the oval-cut centre diamond is estimated to be over 25 carats.
“The oval cut, with its elongated shape, boosts the impact of the diamond while giving the finger a flattering look,” Whiting explains. “On either side of the main diamond are two smaller stones, likely about one carat each, creating a balanced three-stone design.

“The ring is made of platinum or white gold and uses a simple double claw setting that lifts the centre diamond, allowing light to enter and enhance its brilliance. This setting highlights the main stone while keeping it secure.” As for the cost? Whiting estimates that it could be worth even more than earlier estimates. “Considering the size and quality of the diamonds, along with the craftsmanship, the ring’s value would be in the tens of millions of dollars.”
Monika Ruggerino has a slightly more modest valuation for the central diamond. “I love how this design simply showcases the exquisite oval cut diamond centre stone, which I suspect is upward of 15cts, flanked by two smaller oval or pear cut diamonds,” Ruggerino tells ELLE Australia.
“As we see a rise in popularity of fancy cut diamonds such as oval, pear, and marquise cut, so too do trends seem to be turning back to styles of a bi-gone era. I see influences from the likes of Bvlgari ‘Griffe’ design worn by Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren.”
