Charli XCX is a married woman… again. The 32-year-old tied the knot with The 1975’s George Daniel in an intimate legal ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in London back in July, and now, the pair have hosted a larger wedding in the Sicilian beach town of Scopello.
Photos emerged early on Monday morning that showed Charli wearing a custom Danielle Frankel gown with sheer skirt and fitted bodice that’s held up by thin straps. Speaking to Vogue, Frankel revealed that the dress is a bias-cut, ivory silk chiffon slip gown with an elongated train and spaghetti traps. The internal bustier bodice has also been draped with a transparent chiffon fabric, while layers of chiffon ribbons drape around the bodice and down the centre back of the dress. The designer has also added organza micro petals and baroque pearls to “trickle down the train”, which could be a subtle nod to the coastal location of their wedding.
The dress featured a dramatic train that was also befitting for the location, as it caught the sea breeze and billowed behind her as she entered their reception. She held a simple bouquet of small white flowers and greenery and accented her dress with classic details like white satin pumps (the Danielle Frankel Kennedy Pumps, to be specific), diamond drop earing and her signature waved hair. She later added a pair of white-framed sunglasses.
Daniel wore a beige suit with cream shirt unbuttoned underneath, and classic black dress shoes. In photos captured as the ceremony concluded, Daniel’s 1975 bandmate Matty Healy was seen standing up and celebrating, with his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel sitting next to him.
The wedding follows their civil ceremony earlier in the summer. It’s very common for people living in the UK to have two weddings, as there are very strict rules around what constitutes a legal marriage.
At the July ceremony, a handful of family and friends looked on as the pair ducked out of the registry office, and her bridal look is exactly what we would have pictured for the brat singer. Shortly following the pair being papped on the Town Hall steps, Charli took to TikTok, sharing a video that confirmed, yes, George did cry when he saw her in her dress.
Charli chose a white Vivienne Westwood mini dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves, and a corseted bodice. She kept the accessories low-key: sheer veil, ivory slingback heels, and her signature ultra-black sunglasses. George wore a tailored suit and boutonnière.
Charli and George have been linked since 2019, though they reportedly started dating two years later and they have also collaborated on Charli’s albums, most recently with Brat. Charli announced their engagement on Instagram in November 2023, when she posted a photo of her ring and captioned the post, “charli xcx and george daniel fucking for life!!!” she wrote alongside a close-up of the rock.
Saturday’s registry-office wedding appears to be exactly as relaxed as you’d hope for our Brat queen, with the pair smiling and positing for photos with their family out the front of the registry office. She also later posted a couple of TikTok’s later, to give us a proper glimpse at the vibe for the day. In one video, set to her own track “Girl, So Confusing”, joked that George didn’t cry when she walked down the aisle though her caption makes it clear that he did, in fact, shed a little tear.
One thing is for sure. They’re married and they look so adorably happy.
