For ELLE Australia’s December Party Season issue, we turned to the poetry of a Sydney summer: twilight settling over Maroubra Beach and illuminating the sun-soaked colours of Meshki’s Nile collection. The story honours the sensual ease of the season – windblown hair, bare shoulders and that low hum of anticipation before long, balmy evenings and rooftop parties, where a cool ocean breeze cuts through the heat.
The collection, which launched on October 28, reflects the fluidity of its namesake: bright hues that echo a summer sunset, and slinky jersey silhouettes that skim the body with graceful, ripple-like movement. “Darcy felt a bit like a mermaid with her long hair,” says ELLE Australia fashion director Naomi Smith. “We just swapped out her tail for Valentino shoes.”
As model Darcy Jackson moved with the rhythm of the shoreline, a few locals swam beyond the breakers, unaware they had slipped into a fashion daydream. The images capture what the Australian summer does best – a quiet kind of magic where beauty feels both unforced and entirely inevitable.
