THE RUNDOWN:

  • In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Emily Blunt‘s character Emily Chalmers is a high-powered fashion executive
  • First look at images of Blunt filming the sequel, see her with a new look that hints at which luxury fashion house (and potential advertiser for Runway) she’s working with
  • Blunt’s on-set style is a natural evolution of her character’s original 2000s wardrobe and shows how Emily Chalmers has grown

Millennials who watched The Devil Wears Prada the first time around grew up thinking they’d be one of two women: the glamorous, type-A heroine who wears lingerie under a pencil skirt (see: that opening sequence), or the grounded, slightly goofy Andrea Sachs, played to perfection by a 23-year-old Anne Hathaway. In reality, many of us ended up closer to Emily Charlton—Emily Blunt’s iconic, ruthlessly efficient assistant with impeccable taste, nonexistent boundaries (she was definitely sipping millennial pink girl boss juice), a serious case of burnout and a secret heart of gold. She was the film’s delicious antagonist; as we’ve grown up, so have our sympathies. She’s just trying to do her job and get to Paris while Andrea bumbles her way up the ladder.

Which is why first glimpses of Emily’s flaming copper hair on the streets of New York have us cheering. It looks like in Devil Wears Prada 2, Emily is victorious.

Early reporting around the sequel suggests that as Miranda Priestly navigates the decline of traditional print publishing, the tables have turned: Emily Charlton is now a high-powered executive at a luxury fashion group—potentially holding the advertising purse strings Miranda needs.

Fans are naturally speculating which fashion house Emily might call home, and on-set photos have given a clear clue. Blunt was photographed stepping out of a meeting-style scene in a sharp, black-and-white pinstripe look: a Jean Paul Gaultier corseted suit with wide-leg trousers, layered over a crisp white Dior-branded shirt, Dior sunglasses and a black D-Journey hobo bag—plus a bustier by Wiederhoeft.

So, can we take the hint and say Emily’s at Dior? Industry chatter, via Lauren Shermann at Puck, has rumoured precisely that: Emily Charlton as a high-powered executive at Christian Dior, wearing the house throughout.

And the timing is juicy: Dior’s new creative director, Jonathan Anderson, was confirmed in June 2025.

“According to the information that’s been shared with me, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt’s character) will be a high-power executive at Christian Dior, and will wear Dior fashion throughout the movie. (Let’s hope it’s new stuff from Jonathan Anderson, who is an accomplished costume designer in his own right.),” wrote Shermann.

Either way, we love the look—it reads as a natural evolution from the first film. Back at Runway, Emily was largely desk-bound but dressed to the nines, favouring sculptural necklines and sharp shoulders that telegraphed ambition without tipping into ostentation. Now she’s out of dresses and into a pinstriped power suit with corsetry—commanding, modern and every inch the fulfilled ambition.
