Last night, Anne Hathaway rocked up to the annual Guggenheim International Gala. Dressed in an embroidered nude tulle gown by Dior, emblazoned with images of a hanged joker, some leaves and a lobster (as goes Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior’s newly refurbished whimsical MO), people who had yet to move their eyes down from the surreal design of her dress down to her footwear were probably expecting to see some silver-neutral scrappy sandals, or, at the very least, Dior’s new flat-footed lace-up boots.
But defy them Anne did! The actress paired her gown with a pair of rock-steady black combat boots. Seen below:
Further dressing down her look was a loosely tied choker.
To be fair, Anne’s version of ‘IDGAF combat boots’ aren’t exactly your off-the-shelf Docs. Being Dior, they’re more of a ‘two months rent and a few loan call-ins’ kinda deal, but the gist is basically there.
And, hey, it’s Monday morning. Anne’s unexpected combination-clashing might just be inspiring us to pair our tulle midis with our high school-era beat-up boots. Watch this space.
