We never expected to find fashion inspiration in Jurassic Park but Jonathan Bailey has officially broken the internet with his appearance as the sexiest palaeontologist we’ve ever seen (possibly the only one) in the trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth.
Bailey, who lodged like a javelin in our frontal lobes and deepest fantasies following appearances in Bridgerton and Wicked is back, bespectacled and sending the internet into a flurry of excitement. But he’s not the only man whose unassuming wire frames are getting us hot under the collar.

Drew Starkey has sparked a global hunt for his wire framed spectacles worn in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer which has sparked several engaged Reddit threads. Finally, the ubiquitous Timothée Chalamet wore them first, running around New York filming yet-to-be-released Marty Supreme.
Like the dinosaurs, I too wish to devour Jonathan Bailey in his cute little glasses #JurassicWorldRebirth pic.twitter.com/Jit33kBjPm

What turns a standard pair of men’s spectacles into an SLG? In this instance, both optical accessories are of the clear lens variety with a delicate wire frame. On Starkey and Bailey, they make us double-take. For Bailey, they hint that beneath his rugged appearance, there’s a nerdy deep thinker behind the buff exterior, who wouldn’t dream of boring us with a recount of their F45 session. It’s the straight woman equivalent of men who want a girlfriend who looks perfect with no makeup on.
Likewise, for Starkey, who plays the enigmatic Eugene Allerton, there’s something sweetly nostalgic about the look that hints at an intriguing backstory. These specs have a prescription look – they could be the ones the wearer first wore in high school. Of course, he’s never upgraded them because he’s too busy contemplating the mysteries of the universe and reading the same books as us. Styled witha cab le knit jumper or the perfect tight white t-shirt a la Starkey and these aescetic specs pain a picture of a person who’s a little careless about fashion, slightly odd and as a result, very sexy.
OK but I need these glasses https://t.co/wxCaC4eKuO

We’re not alone in celebrating this trend, there’s an entire Instagram account dedicated to men wearing slutty little glasses (imaginatively titled @sluttylittleglasses). We celebrated men in slutty little shorts last year, but this isn’t a moment we’re willing to leave to the boys.
The SLG is too perfectly aligned with the preppy, slightly office-inspired looks we’ve seen on the runway lately. Sadly, according to many animated Reddit threads it’s likely Drew Starkey’s clear lensed wire-frame wonders from Queer were sourced second hand by costume designer and man of taste JW Anderson. As for Bailey? We may have better luck. The internet has ID’d the most likely style as the Keiko, by Warby Parker.
Sadly, for those of us playing the slutty little glasses hunt at home, Warby Parker doesn’t seem to ship to Australia. There are a few Keikos knocking around on eBay, but given they’re likely to move quickly, we’ve tracked down some suitable SLGs to shop at home.

Octagonal and clear, these Dior frames are ticking all our SLG boxes.
Frame shape: Octagonal. | Colours: Black. | Materials: Metal.

Designed to block blue light, these slim round frames by The Book Club are a great (and more affordable) way to try styling these frames.

Eminently practical these are the cerebral spectacles of a man oblivious vanity and focused on avoiding a T-rex or splitting the atom. They can be yours in 11 different shades but the polished silver version is the most geeky and sensibly slutty.
Frame shape: Irregular. | Colours: Polish silver/polished gunmetal/polished blue/polished havana on gold/polished black on gold/polihed arista gold/polished black/polished silver/polished white/polished rose gold. | Materials: Metal.

Prefer a rounder style? So does Drew Starkey! Givenchy’s high polish silver frames are both bookish and risqué.

Nobody let not requiring a prescription get in the way of the 2010s vogue for frames and you shouldn’t let 20/20 vision get in the way of you having fun with slutty little glasses. Featuring a round shape drawn with soft curves in a silver colour, this piece conveys a sense of delicacy.

If you want to make like Jonathan Bailey but can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars on a accessory you don’t technically “need”, these frames from Oppen are for you.
Frame shape: Oval. | Colours: Black/Black, Tortoise/Green. | Materials: Acetate, Polyamide.

If you’re after a more retro, ’70s-esque look, this pair from Saint Laurent’s eyewear collection are the perfect coice. esque brow bar. They have fine gold-tone metal frames, bringing a lightness to the aviator silhouette

“Slutty little glasses” is a term used to describe a specific style of men’s eyewear: thin, wire-framed glasses, often with a slightly rounded shape.
