The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty wrapped on Wednesday, and the internet has predictably gone into a tailspin. From Belly and Conrad finally getting it together and, well, getting together, fans were also thrilled to wake up this morning to the news that a follow up movie is on the way.
That’s right, Jenny Han (the writer and creator of the show) and Prime Video have confirmed that we’ll be going back to Cousins Beach for a follow up The Summer I Turned Pretty movie that will give us the closure we all desperately yearn for.
The third and final season of the show has been a journey for fans. For much of the first two, many fans were divided on whether they were team Conrad or team Jeremiah, and there was even a firm contingent of people who were just team Belly. But as the season progressed, a clear front runner emerged.
Team Conrad has been given many gifts this season, from the intense peach scene and the bathtub scene that left us all a little dazed. It’s hardly surprising that the bulk of fans are big Team Conrad people.
Early on in season three, it appeared that Belly had forgiven Jeremiah for his cheating (I can already hear my solitary Team Jeremiah friend yelling “they were on a break” at me) but once Conrad found out about the whole ordeal, the drama has increased tenfold. Cue him tearfully declaring his love for Belly and her telling telling him their relationship was nothing, and yeah, safe to say we were all left feeling a bit emotionally traumatised. She then broke off her engagement to Jeremiah, on her wedding day no less, and fled for Paris.
But emotional damage aside, there was still only one question on the lips of every one of the show’s fans: who would Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung) end up with in the end?
Belly Conklin’s Fisher brothers love triangle is, at this point, the stuff of legend. The will-they-won’t-they format has had us all hooked to our screens, and though the book should give away who wins her heart in the end, rumours also swirled that the show’s ending might not mirror the books’ finale.

Who Did Belly End Up With In The Summer I Turned Pretty?
In the finale episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Belly and Conrad finally sorted themselves out and got together. Of course, it still wasn’t very smooth sailing, but after a passionate cab ride back to Belly’s apartment and a post-sex panic, she finally went after her man and declared her love for him.
In the final scene, we see them return to Cousins Beach together, seemingly for the first time and the series ends with a shot that’s zooming out from the pair as they stand in front of the iconic house. Though it was the result many people wanted, it also felt annoyingly brief and left everyone wanting more. Thankfully, the film will follow up on Belly’s next stage of life and we’ll all get what we want: actual footage of the pair being together.
What Is The Summer I Turned Pretty About?
Since its screen debut in June 2022, The Summer I Turned Pretty has captured hearts with Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin, torn between the Fisher brothers — Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Across three seasons, the show has explored themes like summer love, childhood crushes, and navigating a messy little love triangle that, at this point, seems to have no happy ending in sight.
In season three, we catch up with a loved-up Belly and Jeremiah as they embark on their final summer before finishing college, and Conrad, who is starting his career as a junior doctor. In the first three episodes of the show, we learn that Jeremiah cheated on Belly while they were on a break at some point during the time jump period that we didn’t see.
Within an episode, they’re engaged but when they attend a memorial for Conrad and Jeremiah’s late mother, Susannah, it quickly becomes clear to us (the viewer) that there are plenty of unresolved feelings between Belly and Conrad.
Who Did Belly End Up With In The Summer I Turned Pretty Books?
Readers of Jenny Han’s novels know that by the end of We’ll Always Have Summer, the third book in the trilogy, Belly ultimately chooses Conrad. After a broken engagement with Jeremiah, and time spent apart (including Belly spending a semester abroad in Paris), Belly and Conrad reconnect through letters, nostalgia, and the unwavering candle they’ve both been holding for one another.
In the books, we see yet another time jump after the pair get together, with the story fast-forwarding to Belly at age 23, when they wed at Cousins Beach, reaffirming that decades of pining for your childhood best friend really does trump all.
