Nothing fascinates the world more than a feud between mother and daughter-in-law (after all, JLo’s Monster In Law movie was a smash hit for a reason).
So, when news broke of an alleged rift between Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham back in 2022—people naturally wanted to know more.
But why do people think they’ve had a falling out? Well, it came down to some suspicious Instagram activity (or lack thereof). Eagle-eyed fans noticed a significant lack of likes shared between Victoria and Nicola, with their once fawning posts coming to a clattering halt in the lead up to Nicola and Brooklyn Beckham’s nuptials in April 2022.
When Nicola married Brooklyn in a lavish Palm Beach ceremony, many expected her to walk down the aisle in a custom Victoria Beckham dress. She didn’t—and the whispers haven’t stopped since.
What followed has been a two-year swirl of rumours, awkward red-carpet appearances, and very public no-shows that’s left fans (and tabloids) questioning the true state of Beckham family unity.
But where did the alleged feud begin? Was it just a dress drama, or something deeper?
Below, we’ve chronicled every supposed icy instance between Posh and Nicola and provided your definitive timeline of their alleged feud.
April 2022: Nicola Peltz & Brooklyn Beckham Wed In Lavish Palm Beach Ceremony
If rumours are to be believed, Nicola and Brooklyn’s multi-million dollar wedding at Nicola’s family estate in Palm Beach is said to be the catalyst of their in fighting.
As the story goes, Nicola was set to wear one of Victoria’s designs from her eponymous luxury fashion label, before revealing at the eleventh hour she would instead be wearing Valentino.
A source told The Sun in 2020 that “Victoria would like to keep it in the family when it comes to the gown and is thrilled Nicola has agreed”.
As it transpired, Victoria designed her own mother-of-the-groom dress (along with several other high profile celebrity guests) for the nuptials, but Nicola opted for an ensemble by Valentino, Versace and Dior.
But that wasn’t the only source of drama that was alleged to have gone down during the multi-day affair.
In August, Page Six reported that Nicola allegedly did not want her mother-in-law involved in the planning of the wedding, with a source explaining that Nicola “wouldn’t clue Victoria in on anything”. The source added “communication was minimal”.
Further adding fuel to the fire were reports that Victoria and David were also not invited to sit at the top table during the reception, which was instead filled by Nicola’s tycoon father, fashion model mother and siblings.
“The top table was all Peltzs and it really felt as though the Beckhams were not at the forefront,” a source told The Daily Mail. There was a feeling that the wedding was all about the Peltz family, as you can imagine, as it was their house and their daughter and their son making the speeches,” the source added.
Oh, and did we mention there were rumours that Nicola stormed out mid-ceremony in tears because Marc Anthony delivered a gushing speech about Victoria during the wedding?
A source claimed in September that Nicola was “crying her eyes out” because singer Marc Anthony delivered a speech that was ” an ode to Victoria and how awesome she is”, much to the ere of her new daughter-in-law.
“Nicola loves to be the centre of attention, especially on her wedding day. So this really, really pissed her off, She stormed off in the middle of her wedding reception with Brittany [her sister] and her mom [Claudia Peltz], and was crying her eyes out,” the source added.
If these reports are starting to feel like a Shakespeare tragedy it’s because they are.
June 2022: Victoria and David Beckham are notably absent on Brooklyn and Nicola’s Lavish European Honeymoon
Fast forward a few months after the wedding, Nicola and Brooklyn commenced their lavish multi-city European honeymoon.
Their post-nuptial vacation would seemingly provide a reprieve from the countless reports of a cold war between Victoria and Nicola, however it seemed this romantic getaway was only further evidence between the two.
For their honeymoon, Nicola and Brooklyn boarded a superyacht around the south of France, a mere stones throw away from where the Beckham family was vacationing in Croatia.
By the looks of things, the Beckhams and the Peltz Beckhams did not meet up while galivanting around the Mediterranean.
Sure, you may be thinking ‘why would the newly weds want to meet up with their in-laws while on their honeymoon?’, and under different circumstances that would be a fair point—we saw how well an in-law crashing a honeymoon turned out on The White Lotus.
However, it turned out that members of Nicola’s family including her parents and her brothers had also accompanied them on the luxury holiday.
The fact neither family made the effort to meet up with one another spoke volumes.
June 2022: Nicola Peltz Beckham’s “Shady” Tatler Interview Drops
While the Beckham’s have been a mainstay in London’s society pages for what seems like forever, the Los-Angeles based Nicola took to the front cover of Tatler magazine to seemingly assimilate into England’s exclusive scene.
However, it seems that the cover story caused quite a stir. What’s a fashion feature without throwing a bit of shade?
With the cover line reading ‘The New Mrs. Beckham’, Nicola appeared to subtly diss her in-laws by referencing the “pressure” Brooklyn faced with his amounting failed career choices.
Brooklyn, who is currently a professional amateur-cook, was, according to his wife, facing “a lot of pressure to please people with his career and he didn’t love it”.
Nicola also claimed that Brooklyn turns to her billionaire father for business and financial advice.
Upon the publishing of the magazine, fans thought Nicola’s comments we’re pointed at Posh and Becks, especially the part where she referred to her own father as Brooklyn’s business confidant.
It’s not like the former-photographer has two parents with impressive and lucrative careers to turn for help, right?
July 2022: Brooklyn Beckham Gets Large ‘Peltz’ Tattoo On His Chest
While this one doesn’t indirectly reference Nicola and Victoria’s rumoured feud, it does show the state of play between Nicola, Brooklyn and his parents.
After reports that there was wedge being driven between the Peltz and Beckham families, Brooklyn proved that a picture does indeed speak a thousand words by debuting his brand new ‘Peltz’ tattoo. If you had any doubts of Brooklyn’s commitment to Nicola, they’re certainly squashed now.
“I’m so happy you’re a Peltz” wrote Nicola on social media.
While Brooklyn has several tattoos in tribute to his parents in siblings, none of them compare to the seventy-odd tattoos he has dedicated to his wife and in-laws.

August 2022: Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham Address Feud In An Interview
As evidence alluding to a feud, both parties remained coy until August of 2022—four months after their wedding—when Nicola broke her silence.
Speaking to Variety, she said she believed the rumours had stemmed from her decision to not wear a wedding dress designed by her mother in law.
Nicola explained that she was initially going to wear a VB design: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”
She continued to debunk the rumours: “She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”
Brooklyn also weighed in on the rumours, telling the publication: “I’ve learned [the media are] always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”
September 2022: Nicola Attends Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Show During Paris Fashion Week
In September, things seemingly took a positive turn in Nicola and Victoria’s relationship by the Welcome To Chippendales star attending Victoria’s supermodel studded Paris Fashion Week runway debut.
Nicola sat between her husband and Romeo Beckham (disproving rumours that there was tension between herself and Romeo’s girlfriend Mia Regan), a few seats down from VOGUE editors Anna Wintour and Edward Eninful.
And while the pictures show the picture-perfect family affair, Nicola’s social media pages tell an entirely different story.
Despite attending (and posting about) several other designer shows, Nicola didn’t post any photos of Posh’s shows to her 2.8 million Instagram followers.

During an interview with The Times, Nicola once again addressed the speculation that she and Victoria are embroiled in a feud by flat out denying that the two are fighting.
“It’s not a feud! I keep seeing everywhere that word, ‘feud, feud, feud!?’ I mean, maybe they picked up on something? And now they’re labelling it feud?” she said referring to the press.
Nicola did also claim that the feud rumours only began after she opted not to wear a dress designed by Victoria on her wedding day.
“I think it all started, and I’ve said this before, because I didn’t end up wearing Victoria’s wedding dress, but the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me! And I was really excited to wear it! And I didn’t end up wearing it,” she explained.
“Truthfully, I was really excited to wear her dress. It makes me sad when I read things that people say I was never planning on wearing it. That’s just not true.”
January 2023: Victoria Beckham Shares A Birthday Tribute For Nicola
New year, new them? It seems that Victoria and Nicola have left their feud in 2022 with the former Spice Girl posting a birthday tribute to her daughter-in-law on Instagram.
The actress, who turned 28 on January 9, appeared to be coyly posing with Victoria in the image which appears to be taken in pre-wedding—before the rumours of a feud began circulating.
“Happy Birthday @NicolaAnnePeltzBeckham ? Hope you have a lovely day!!! X,” Victoria wrote on social media.
Some of Victoria’s 30.5 million fans took to the comment section to congratulate the pair for their candour in putting their feud aside (at least publicly).
Considering Nicola also reposted Victoria and David’s birthday tributes it seems that the Beckham v. Peltz beef may be squashed for good.
That is until the next salacious headline.
February 4, 2024: Victoria Beckham And Nicola Peltz Pose Together At Premiere For Nicola’s New Film
The family stepped out in full force for the premiere of Lola, marking Nicola’s directorial debut. And if there was any tension behind the scenes, it didn’t show—on the red carpet, at least, everything appeared perfectly poised.
Nicola and her mother in law posed side-by-side on the red carpet, arms around each other, before welcoming Cruz and Brooklyn for more family photos. Nicola also wore a custom white set designed by Victoria Beckham.
Victoria posted a pic to her Instagram, saying: “[Nicola] we could not be more proud of you! Congratulations on your incredible film, Lola. Officially in theatres February 9th Kisses”
Nicola then responded: “love you beyond. thank you for supporting me tonight and also i’m so obsessed with my custom VB look.”
July 2024: Nicola And Brooklyn Miss Annual Family Trip.
In July and August 2024, the Beckhams escaped on their usual round of summer holidays, from their annual Muskoka retreat in Canada to a sleek yacht trip along the European coast.
Noticeably absent? Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham, who missed both family getaways.
Victoria shared a message on Instagram at the time, tagging the couple with a simple: “Miss you @brooklynpeltzbeckham @nicolaannepeltzbeckham.”
May 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola miss David Beckham’s 50th birthday party.
Fast forward to 2025, and tensions between the Beckhams and the Peltz-Beckhams appeared to reignite when Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from David Beckham’s star-studded 50th birthday bash in London — with guests including Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria, and Gordon Ramsay.
While Romeo, Cruz, and Harper were all in attendance, Brooklyn and Nicola’s no-show quickly sparked speculation. According to The Mirror, the couple allegedly opted out to avoid an awkward run-in with Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull — who was linked to Brooklyn back in 2016.
Adding fuel to the fire? The pair broke tradition by skipping public birthday tributes for both Victoria and David on social media.
May 2025: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Host Dinner For Brooklyn and Nicola
In May, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hosted a dinner at their Montecito home with Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz among the guests—despite ongoing rumours of tension between the Sussexes and Beckhams.
Later that month, Princess Catherine stepped out in a Victoria Beckham suit at the British Fashion Council event in London—one of the rare times she’s worn the designer.
A coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
May 2025: Brooklyn Beckham’s Public Declaration Of Love
In an age where Instagram captions say more than press releases, Brooklyn Beckham just made his priorities very public. On May 24, the 26-year-old shared a romantic reel featuring himself and wife Nicola Peltz on a red motorcycle, soundtracked by Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem.”
With Nicola clinging close as they sped along, Brooklyn captioned the post: “My whole world x,” adding, “I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby❤️❤️.”

June 2025: Nicola and Brooklyn Hire A Crisis Team—The Same One As Harry and Meghan.
In June, Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly brought on a new lawyer to assist with their reputation management—none other than Jenny Afia of Schillings, the same powerhouse solicitor used by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to The Daily Mail, the move came shortly after the couple crossed paths with the Sussexes at the Montecito soirée.
A notable choice, considering both couples hail from famously influential—and famously complicated—British dynasties.
Whether it’s a social media love letter, a no-show at a birthday bash, or a surprise Montecito dinner, one thing’s for sure—where the Beckhams (and their in-laws) go, the intrigue always follows. Stay tuned.
