It was the moment that many were waiting for, and most thought was overdue.
After four weeks, Nick Cummins made the decision to send three of The Bachelor’s most divisive contestants—Romy, Cat and Alisha—home. In a can’t-look-away climax to an intense episode, the Bachelor takes Cat aside to send her home, something that sent her two counterparts into a spin. The rose ceremony then sees Alisha sent home without a rose, and Romy choose to walk despite receiving one.
And while opinions on the three (separate and together) vary from person to person, the general consensus was that the mass exodus was a positive.
Following that explosive ending, fans of the show took to Instagram and Twitter to express their frustration, relief and (occasional) joy.
Here, how Australia reacted to the biggest episode yet.
SURELY this cements Nick as the best Bachelor. He’s kicking them out specially because they are MEAN. Not some BS rose ceremony. Actually because they’re HORRIBLE. #TheBachelorAU

Look I'm super happy Nick is going to boot out Cat, but I can't help but feel like it should have been done weeks ago. The bullying that she and the rest of her clique have been a part of is beyond disgusting and should not have been shown on TV #TheBachelorAU

No joke I feel genuine RELIEF that those three are gone. It was distressing to watch them.

This show is fucked. #TheBachelorAU
Good work, Nick. No previous Bachelor has said he was evicting people for being mean. He has named the behaviour, he has insisted on removing the behaviour. Good stuff. There have been previous mean girls, this is a good step. #TheBachelorAU

Mood: the munchkins in Oz after that house fell on the Wicked Witch #TheBachelorAU

I wasn't sold on the Honeybadger being #thebachelorau BUT his actions, pulling Tenille aside and listening to her and believing her? Fuck what a dude. WHAT A DUDE! 10 points to the Honeybadger

Cat, Romy and Alisha are gone and my crops are watered, my skin is clear, my debts are paid off #TheBachelorAU

That is SUCH a coincidence, I put the bins out tonight at my house too. #TheBachelorAU

Nick doesn’t even try to convince Romy to stay.

She’s fishing for him to beg her to stay.
And the honey badger don’t care, he just says “decision made” and opens the car door for her#TheBachelorAU
